The Toronto Maple Leafs’ 24-year-old center is only the second American to be selected #1 overall in the NHL draft. He scored four goals in his NHL debut, won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league’s top rookie in the 2016-17 season, and was the NHL’s leading goal scorer in 2020-21.
